Kumpulan Karangkraf started its business in a humble little shoplot in 1978, Its founder Hussamuddin bin Hj. Yaacub had a simple dream of interpreting white pages into great opportunities. The maiden magazine published under the group was Mingguan Kanak-Kanak, and this was soon followed by with weekly tabloids Bacaria, Watan, Media Hiburan and later Seri Dewi & Keluarga, Remaja and Nona.

Today Kumpulan Karangkraf, is Malaysia’s largest national language magazine publisher with 30 titles under its belt. Throughout the 30 years of involvement in the publishing industry, Kumpulan Karangkraf continues to experience tremendous growth via positive sales and advertising figures. This is further enhanced by taking a bold step delving into the competitive world of daily newspaper with the launch of Sinar Harian. Unlike other national language dailies, Sinar Harian is the only 100% regional (State) newspaper in the Peninsula.
